The presentation, which took place during this year’s Anime Expo event, exceeded the expectations of most fans of the universe and turned out to be a great success. However, Star Wars: Visions, announced last year, will not be a series, as it might seem, but an anthology of independent anime short films.
See for yourself what the new Star Wars venture looks like:
On this occasion, the full list of titles of individual episodes of Star Wars: Visions and the studios responsible for their production was presented . Among them, we can see Kamikaze Douga – the creator of Batman Ninja, or Kinema Citrus known from the series Made in Abyss.
The list of films and their authors is as follows:
- Kamikaze Douga – The Duel,
- Geno Studio – Lop and Ochō,
- Studio Colorido – Tatooine Rhapsody,
- Trigger – The Twins, The Elder,
- Kinema Citrus – The Village Bride,
- Science SARU – Akakiri , T0-B1,
- Production I.G. – The Ninth Jedi.
As the description of the upcoming project says, it will be the first official combination of Star Wars and anime. Each episode is supposed to have a “Japanese sensibility” which in many ways fits the spirit of the universe, given that Japanese mythology and Akira Kurosawa’s films also influenced its shaping.
It may also be interesting that although the action will take place in the vast universe of Star Wars, the studios were allowed a relative creative freedom in the production of their episodes. The creators had the opportunity to deal with already known stories and present them in their own way or create completely new stories and characters.
How will viewers use this opportunity will be able to find out on September 22 this year. That’s when a series of short films will make its debut on the Disney + platform.
