Ars Goetia's game promises to be incredibly interesting and atmospheric, and the premiere will be in February! Will we be carried away by the story of the apostle fighting sin?
Perfectly drawn
In The Blind Prophet , inspired by such titles as Blade Runner , Broken Sword and Gabriel Knight , we will play the role of the apostle Bartholomeus (Bartholomew) to help him fight the evil and corruption spreading in the city of Rotbork. The gameplay is typical “point and click” without any special freaks, except for the special skill of the main character – it helps us pay attention to important elements of the environment in which we are currently. This is very useful, because there are quite a few panels that we are going to move around and they are really detailed. In the final version of the game there will be as many as 99 of them, all created by hand and with attention to the smallest nuances, so you will be able to enjoy your eyes with a wonderful line.
Oko w oko ze złem
We start the game in dingy docks, where Bartholomeus protects a young girl from an aggressive gentleman with a woodcutter’s build and the temper of an angry bull. The stubborn man is very unpleasantly “reprimanded” for his nasty incitement – the apostle cuts off his hand. The giant, screaming in pain, runs away and here we begin our adventure for good! Is it because of the deeply rooted evil in humans that they become beasts devoid of any emotions and feelings? Why are their eyes filling bloody red and is death the last resort? How much evil can one town contain? We will get some disturbing answers to each of these uncomfortable questions. We will have to fight with sin pouring out from everywhere and with deceptive demons (and this is not a metaphor at all).
In Christian?
Oh how! The very title makes the bells ring somewhere. What church? Well, there is no church, but we have a real revue of fallen angels and Christian demons who patronize the worst sins, applaud the most heinous deviations and bask in the corruption of mortals – Asmodeus, Baal, Beelzebub, Lucifer … Of course, not all of them! Will we have to be godly serious? Of course not! You will love the sharp tongue and humor of our apostle, who does not wear sandals or toga, but instead wears like a real badass , with a sword on his back and an eye patch. What more could you want?
Racial point’n’click
We will be confronted with smaller and larger puzzles that lurk at every step, so our gray cells will still be occupied, you can be sure. The locations are incredibly atmospheric and well-styled, so it’s worth stopping for a longer time at a specific panel and just taking a good look at it. The sound setting is also satisfying and definitely fits the whole thing (reach the “Mermaid Smile” sanctuary and you will see what I mean). An additional great advantage of the game are the dynamic cutscenes – of course, in line with the idea of the game, kept in a comic book style. Here, we don’t have too little or too much, the gameplay is nicely balanced and we don’t get monotony or “attacked” by meaningless walls of text that add absolutely nothing interesting to the conversation with the characters. The final version of the game is supposed to last several hours, so if it is as interesting as its rather short demo, it will be a pity to end our acquaintance with Bartholomeus. There are still a few technical aspects that need to be improved, but it is nothing serious and in the face of such a pleasingly promising game, you can now turn a blind eye to minor shortcomings.
I believe that this is definitely a title worth getting interested in. The winter period is favorable for players – the days are short, the evenings are long – so it is worth stocking up on interesting games to somehow survive until spring, and The Blind Prophet is one of them. The game will debut on Steam in February!
