There can only be one!
– soon fans of Conor MacLeod will again hear this cult quote from the series about the eternal battles between the immortals.
In November 2016 the first year there were reports, which showed that Chad Stahelski, director of the fate of John Wick, prepare a new version of the film Highlander ( Highlander ). Although it might seem that this topic has been abandoned, a remake of this cult production from 1986 will actually be created.
According to the Deadline website, one of the main roles in the new movie The Immortal will be given to Henry Cavill, the movie Superman and the series Geralt of Rivia. The actor himself decided to confirm this information on his Instagram.
The screenplay for the new Immortal was written by Kerry Williamson, who has made films such as Alex Cross and The Seven Sisters . Due to the fact that Cavill is to play one of the two main roles, it is very possible that the plot will differ from the original from 1986. There, the first violin was played by Connor MacLeod, played by Christopher Lambert. Compared to him, other key characters, such as Kurgan and Ramirez, spent relatively little time on the screen. According to Deadline sources, once the main roles have been cast, the project should quickly go into production.
Recall that the production directed by Russell Mulcahy in 1986 told the story of the immortal Scottish warrior, Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert), who during his hundreds of years of life had to face many rivals because only one could remain immortal. An additional advantage of the film was the amazing soundtrack prepared by the Queen band.
