Seven stories plus a surprise
In the fifth volume of the jubilee edition of Kajek i Kokosz, instead of one long story, there are as many as seven stories. Thanks to such a large number of comics, it is impossible to complain about boredom, because on each page the title characters perform the truest miracles. It starts with the fact that in the Professor’s Invention , Kajko and Kokosz find themselves in the present day, and on top of that they end up on a film set! On the other hand, in Milusia’s Birthday , Janusz Christa shows how difficult it is to bathe a dragon, only to later show in Łaźnia that it is much easier to trick robbers into taking a bath! In the Concert of the Corporalan unusual and terrifying situation occurs. Well, the Corporal manages to capture Kajek and Kokosz! The most important, however, is the threat he makes later: “[…] I will play for you too, oh I will play…”. Treasures of Mirmił refer to the ransom paid by the inhabitants of Mirmiłłów to the robbers for buying Miluś. However, it got so weird that one chest turned into two! In Miraculous Medicine , the heroes flew for magical water, because Mirmiła caught a serious cold! The last story, i.e. the Festival of Witches , raises many interesting threads, the funniest of which is the idea of a growth elixir.
Long live Miles!
I liked each of the seven stories in the volume. I was especially amused by Kajek and Kokosz’s visit to modern times. Reading the individual comics, I had the impression of communing with a much more developed story. Witch FestivalI read it in about an hour and it felt like twice as long. I had so much fun, I was so drawn into the world created by Janusz Christa! All this is due to the funny and addictive plot, amazing art and interesting characters. Because apart from the likable protagonists, robbers pay special attention, specifically the deadly trio that complement each other so perfectly. Hegemon, Kapral and Oferma are one of the funniest crews out there; sometimes I even had the feeling that they play the first fiddle in some stories! It is also worth noting that it is on the pages of the comics included in this volume that Milusia’s puberty is shown!
What connects Kajka and Asterix?
Janusz Christa is the truest artist. Every frame impresses with details. It was a real pleasure to stop at some scenes to fully appreciate his talent. The graphics are stunning, but so is the release. Egmont rose to the occasion and the Golden Collection is a true gem. In addition to the comics, there is also very interesting journalism, dealing, among other things, with the issue of allegations that Janusz Christa had to face. In addition, the volume also includes photos of sketches, magazines, and even photographs of the author’s studio! Finally, a cover gallery has been added. The most important, however, is the never-published story about Kajek and Kokosz called Surprise. A wonderful gift for lovers of Christa’s work. Admittedly, it’s just a funny scenario with no illustrations, but it perfectly complements The Corporal’s Concerto .
Is it worth getting interested in the work of Janusz Christa?
Kajko i Kokosz is a timeless comic book that will entertain both children and adults. I wholeheartedly recommend the Golden Collection to everyone , because it is worth having this wonderful series at home. Nothing improves your mood like a portion of crazy adventures of Kajka and Kokosz.
