Another production from Warner Bros. Discovery has been canceled. This time it was a science fiction series broadcast by HBO.
To the surprise of many fans, Westworld will not see its fifth season. The reason for this decision has not been made public, but it is likely the next step in the infamous cuts that began after the Warner Bros. merger. and Discovery. The science fiction series was also one of the top candidates for an ending for several reasons. Production ratings began to drop significantly, the story became more and more confusing, and the shooting of subsequent seasons was a significant financial burden.
Just as surprised as the viewers were probably the creators of the picture – Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. In last month’s interviews, they both hoped to film a fifth season which would be the actual finale of the entire show. Joy even admitted that they already have a specific idea for the end of the story. Unfortunately, we will probably never see it.
Westworld debuted on HBO in 2016 and became a hit very quickly. The series was an adaptation of the film Wild West , which was released in 1973. The plot of both productions was initially very similar. The action took place in a futuristic amusement park where four historical eras were recreated (ancient Rome, medieval England, feudal Japan and the American wild west). Rich visitors of the facility chose one of the stories and could play different roles. One day in the park there was a crash of androids, which were playing as independent characters. The maddened machines quickly started killing people.
