Hayao Miyazaki about who his films really belong to

With the popularity achieved by Hayao Miyazaki, no one would be surprised if he put modesty in his pocket. However, he does not rest on his laurels, much less remembers who actually creates Studio Ghibli.

Studio Ghibli is the king of full-length anime movies. Productions such as the Tomb of the Fireflies , Howl’s Moving Castle , Kiki’s Sky Mail and many others have been entertaining, educating and sensitizing for 36 years. One of the most popular animations – Spirited Away: In the land of Gods,  twenty years after its premiere, it will hit the boards of Japanese theater.

Hayao Miyazaki – director and founder of Studio Ghibli – is not a man who likes to stand in the spotlight and definitely prefers to act behind the curtain. During the press conference following the screening of the posters and the announcement of the theatrical version of Spirited Away , longtime collaborator and co-founder of Studio Ghibli – Toshio Suzuki – shared what he had heard from Miyazaki earlier.

I left it [ Spirited Away – ed. ed.] behind him. The movie was made with the support of a lot of people, so it’s not just mine. It belongs to everyone.

Miyazaki is aware that he is not the only one behind setting up the studio and he openly admits it. At the news of the theatrical version of Spirited Away: In the Land of the Gods had to answer simple: clear . Thanks to its original script, animated in 2001, fans of Chihiro’s adventures will be able to watch a theatrical version of his favorite anime on February 28, 2022 at Tokyo’s Imperial Theater.
