A masked killer who has had a bloody game in the city turns out to be much more difficult to defeat than you might think. Now he returns in another installment of the trilogy to wreak havoc on the people of Haddonfield. Premiere of an extended version of the movie featuring an alternative ending not available anywhere else on Blu-ray ™ and DVD on April 27.
Moments after Laurie Strode (Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) leave the cruel murderer Michael Myers trapped in the basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. She is convinced that the masked monster has finally been defeated. However, Michael manages to free himself from the trap, and the unbridled urge to murder returns. Laurie inspires the people of Haddonfield to rise up against an emotionless killer.
After the success of the first part, announced as the trilogy of the Halloween series, exceeded all expectations , the creators could easily start working on the continuation of the story about Michael Myers. David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, who were responsible for the Halloween script , this time invited Scott Teems to cooperate with him to lead the rest of the story. As Green says:
The success of the first film made it possible to create a sequel that gets even bigger, crazier and tells the story of an even more hideous Myers. With this film, we wanted not only to give the fans something new, but also to make ourselves happy in developing the story.
The main goal from the very beginning was to tell about the impact of the experience of violence on the entire community of the city.
The first movie was about how Micheal Myers’ Halloween killing game 40 years ago affected the lives of Laurie and her family , McBride explains. – In “Halloween Kills” we decided to focus more on the collective experience of the town community. How can the awareness of this atrocity affect ordinary people?
For this reason, in the film, we no longer see Laurie fighting alone or with the help of her daughter and granddaughter. He has all the others on his side who survived the cruelty of that night. Now all of Haddonfield is struggling to fight off the common enemy.
The effect that the creators achieved was moving for the film’s producer, Bill Block, who was particularly impressed by how it was possible to capture the spirit of this lost town and tell about it in a script combining the features of a moving drama and a captivating one. in the suspense of a thriller. But what seemed most surprising to Block were the flashes of comedy perfectly balancing the film’s excessive seriousness at the right moments.
Nobody does it better than these three. They know perfectly well when you need a momentary break from this series of brutal killings – he explains. – In other hands it could be extremely tasteless, but Danny, Scott and David have made sure everything is where it belongs. I’m really amazed at their skill that makes the whole thing seem so simple, but at the same time it’s incredibly nuanced and multi-layered , ‘the producer concludes.
