James Gunn and Peter Safran finally showed their cards. We got to know the plans for the first stage of the reboot of the DC movie universe.
During a special event in Burbank, California, the bosses of DC Studios presented their plan for DCU. Called by them Chapter One: Gods and Monsters , it will introduce new stories, but also take part of those that began in the DCEU. We can expect both full-length movies and series. The new opening will feature movies related to the big three – Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman.
For starters, however, it is worth mentioning what will start this great reboot. Well, as predicted, The Flash will serve as the culmination of the old DCEU and the beginning of the DCU. Among the films announced were Superman: Legacy , The Authority , The Brave and the Bold , Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow , and Swamp Thing .
The first of these productions will present the struggle of the title character in an attempt to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his earthly upbringing. the picture will not show the genesis of the hero once again. James Gunn wrote the script for the film, but it is not yet known who will direct it. The premiere is scheduled for July 2025.
The Authority will introduce Wildstorm characters to the DC universe. They will create the titular Authority, a group that will take matters into their own hands and bring order.
The main character of The Brave and the Bold will be Damian Wayne, the son of Batman and Talia al Ghul. The film will tell about the relationship between the dark knight and his descendant. The main inspiration for this film are the comic books by Grant Morrison.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be based on the comic book series by Tom King. This series has won nominated for the prestigious Eisner Award for the best limited story. In this graphic novel, we follow Kara’s adventures as she travels through space.
In Swamp Thing , we will see the dark origins of one of DC’s most terrifying heroes. Not much else is known about this production yet, but there have been reports that the picture was to be directed by James Mangold. Apparently, he is already in the process of negotiating with the studio.
Among the series , Creature Commandos , an animated mini-series with a script by James Gunn, was announced. It will tell about a team of monstrous convicts taken by Amanda Waller to perform undercover operations. Waller is a Peacemaker spinoff that is set to continue the story of the creator of Task Force X. Viola Davis will return as the titular character, and she will be joined by some of the cast from the production with John Cena. In Booster Gold , just like in the comics, we will see the adventures of a time traveler who uses futuristic inventions to become a superhero. Lanternsfinally, he will show us the adventures of the Green Lanterns. The main characters will be Hal Jordan and John Stewart, who are on the trail of a dark mystery. The final series is Paradise Lost , which will tell the story of the Amazons of Themyscira long before Wonder Woman was born.
The current plan is to release four productions a year, two films and two series. In addition, information regarding the future of the director of The Flash has surfaced . Gunn and Safran want Andy Muschietti to continue working with the studio on future projects. He will be joined by his sister Barbara, who is a producer.
