The Marvel Cinematic Universe wraps up another trilogy this summer. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 promises to be the final chapter in the history of the current team. As you can see from titles like Iron Man 3 and Captain America: Civil War , Marvel Studios tends to increase their appetite for their third installments, both in terms of action and story. The larger scale also includes duration, as both films were the longest films in their respective trilogies.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will follow suit. Answering a question on Instagram, Gunn revealed that Part 3 will be the longest film in the Guardians franchise . However, he did not specify exactly how long it would last. History indicates that it will be at least 138 minutes. The film Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) ran 122 minutes, while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) ran 137 minutes.
Completing part 3 of Guardians was an obstacle course to say the least. Threequel was initially scheduled to launch on May 4, 2020. It was put on hold indefinitely as Disney briefly cut ties with Gunn. Gunn joined DC around this time and began work on The Suicide Squad . Gunn and Disney finally got along.
