The ambitious fan project “Gothic” is back. The developers have learned from the server startup problems and are working on numerous changes.
A few months ago, we informed about the work on Elisium Roleplay – an ambitious multiplayer server project for Gothic 2: Night of the Raven , created by a native group of fans. Unfortunately, the server was shut down shortly after the November opening. The creators decided to respond to the situation and inform about further plans. The main problem turned out to be a wave of DDoS attacks, for which the team was not prepared and the server provider did not provide effective security in the package. The improper balance of the game also turned out to be a problem. These factors forced the team to shut down the server and redesign almost every aspect.
Over the past five months, the Elisium Roleplay team has been working hard, thanks to which semi-open tests of the new version of the server are already underway. On the other hand, a video presenting the refreshed map has been released on the web.
The creators also point out that a small fan-like project turned into a large undertaking that exceeded their expectations. The record of active users was broken on the server of the Gothic 2 Online platform, and in the peak period there were about 600 people on the Discord server
