How to make a pizza?
The preparation of the game is very simple, depending on the number of players, we create the appropriate number of piles of pieces of Italian delicacy, each of which has eleven pies. Then one of the people takes the pizza cutter and starts the round by creating one by arranging the eleven pieces into one tasty Italian specialty. Then he divides it into as many pieces as there are players (a serving can consist of one, two or even three slices of pizza). He has complete freedom here, but he must bear in mind that the leftovers from your table will go to him, so he should separate the pizza in such a way as to get what he wants, and at the same time not to serve his fellow players too tasty morsels.
Each player can save a piece of pizza for later (then he fights with the other players for an advantage) or eat it (it will bring as many points as he has basil leaves on, i.e. from one to three). Each slice of pizza is in a certain number and the player with the most pieces of this type of Italian specialty at the end of the game scores points (in case of a tie – all tied players receive VPs). You can also add an extension, i.e. special offers, and then we will not only hunt for food, but also for those tokens that can bring us additional points or help during the game.
Appetizing appearance
There is nothing to hide, the greatest advantage of the new game from our bookstore is its visual side. Pieces of pizza look extremely appetizing, and putting eleven parts together creates a delicious, multi-colored cake that looks simply delicious on the table. I like that the topic almost spills out of the box. It is difficult to talk about the atmosphere, but it cannot be denied that the charms of a trip to a pizzeria with friends have been successfully rendered. We even have a pizza cutter with which we can actually divide pieces of Italian specialty. The workmanship is also decent, the game elements are made of thick cardboard, we also have a well-written manual, and most importantly, the size of the box is adequate to the content. I would have a possible objection to the solo variant, which is not included in the manual, but is on the publisher’s website. Of course it’s a small thing
Fight for tasty pizza
To be honest, the gameplay was just average. While the game looks great on the table, the game itself lacks a bit of emotion and combination. Sure, we can have fun here and use some tactics, but the truth is that every pizza earns us points in the same way, so it doesn’t matter if I pick up salami or seafood chunks because if I have more than others, I’ll get points and that’s it. This game is capable of arousing the appetite, but rather only for one game. Nevertheless, I would like to play a Pizzeria, I can even suggest a game to my friends, because why not, but on the other hand, there is no need to hide that there are a lot of more interesting games. Nevertheless, I like the fact that the person with the pizza cutter is the last to choose a portion of the Italian specialty, and the competition between players for having the majority in a given type of pizza works well. The subject is the greatest advantage of this item, because mechanically there is nothing innovative here. A pleasant diversion are special offers, which, it should be emphasized, are unequal. Some will always be worth hunting (for example, some five victory points), and some will only be useful in a specific situation (for example, being able to eat up to two pieces of pizza put aside for later when you select an offer). We have some interesting mechanisms here, so you can have fun at the Pizzeria great, but I personally lacked major innovations.
A lonely fight with the author of the game
Solo mode looks decent. Jeff, our opponent, puts the pizza aside if it gives him an edge, and if he has it, then the pie is consuming. Therefore, it is our head to give him the least tasty morsels, and to obtain the most valuable ones. Importantly, Jeff always chooses the first of the four prepared servings. We are dealing with a peculiar puzzle, because we have full knowledge about the actions and preferences of our opponent. Solo gameplay is fun and you can fight the “author of the game” from time to time. Nevertheless, it is worth emphasizing that the game is more delicious in a larger group.
I like pizza!
I’ve played too many games before. I like light and family titles, but often these items are not able to stand out from the crowd of other board games. This is the case with the Pizzeria – the theme and workmanship are noticeable, but for me the mechanics are the most important. Here it works, it is pleasant, but it does not stand out from the competition. A pizzeria is an excellent medium for me, in which I would like to play, but not too often. Although it is known how it is with board games, in good company the Pizzeria will be even more delicious! Nevertheless, what surprised me personally, even devouring a pizza alone can be a delicious experience.
