Focon – the most online convention created especially for virtual reality, inspired by the traditional formula. No lockdown will stop the creators and participants from around the world from organizing the event!
This year, thanks to its immaterial form, Focon is limited only by the imagination of the organizers. Neither time nor space are an obstacle. Each speaker or exhibitor can be from a different continent. At the moment, guests not only from Poland, but also from China and America are announced. The list is still open, so we can expect creators from all over the world. The program is built to provide visitors from all areas of non-mainstream fantasy entertainment, from books and board games to movies and manga to computer games.
The event will be completely free for participants. However, if you are a fan of physical souvenirs, you can purchase a collector’s, numbered ticket with a program with an attached ID.
One of the attractions is the ability to connect to the room of the creator who will be waiting for you. You can talk about topics that interest you, see the products, listen to the presentation and of course choose your convention souvenirs and buy them directly on the exhibitor’s website, to which you will get a link in the chat.
Another highlight of the program is the convention game, the mechanisms of which are modeled on city games. During the event, you’ll be able to search for clues, solve puzzles, and earn rewards. The details of this attraction, as well as the cosplay competition, are yet to be revealed, but everything will surely become clear soon.
Focon will host:
● Eugeniusz Dębski – Polish writer with almost 40 years of experience;
● Michael Mammay – an American writer whose books hit Poland last year and one of them is nominated for the Book of the Year 2020 award of the LubimyCzyotyk.pl portal;
● Regina Kanyu Wang – award-winning Chinese science-fiction writer, translator and popularizer of Chinese literature around the world;
● Robert Brown – American musician, vocalist of the steampunk band Abney Park;
● Michał Gołkowski – a popular Polish writer with 23 books on his account;
● as well as Magdalena Kucenty, Grzegorz Wielgus, Maria Zdybska and Łukasz Rzadkowski.
