A representative of ENWorld , a well-known RPG forum , reported that a displacer beast appeared in one of the scenes. This is the first confirmation of the appearance of any “official” monster known from the D&D manuals in the upcoming movie.
The deceptive beast resembles a six-legged panther with two tentacles protruding from its back. The creature is from Feywild and has the ability to bend light and create illusions to make it appear to be in a different place than it really is. This creature appeared in the first expansion to Dungeons & Dragons in 1975.
The news that the deceptive beast will appear at least briefly in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is surely great news for fans who hope the movie will reflect the world of the role-playing game. The previous productions did not use too many D&D monsters(except for the red and gold dragons and the beholder, which in addition did not function as it should), which met with criticism. The new title set in Forgotten Lands will be said to be more game-like than previous trials. We also know that we will see at least one devil on the screen. The main roles will be played, among others, by Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Sophia Lillis, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith and Ansel Elgort. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will be directing the film. The premiere is scheduled for March 3, 2023.
