On July 2, International UFO Day is celebrated. On this occasion, the editors of the Last Tavern have prepared a list of their favorite aliens!

Ghidora

In his nearly seventy-year career, Godzilla has faced dozens of enemies. However, Ghidora is called the arch enemy. It happened that the Golden King had a mystical genesis, although most often he came from stellar skies to destroy earthly civilization. Few of the other aliens can boast this size, two tails, no hands, three heads (including one named Kevin), and a golden color. Crossing the cosmos on your own wings is also very difficult. And that it looks like a dragon? Maybe the dragons look like King Ghidora? Such an interpretation can be found in Godzilla: King of the Monsters . – Jacek Murawski

An unstoppable swarm scurrying through space in search of more planets to take over, linking their monsters with psionic communication knots. Tyranids? Do moich ulubionych „obcych” w popkulturze od lat należą przedstawiciele rasy Saiyan z mang i anime autorstwa Toriyamy. Son Goku i Vegeta, bo o nich mowa, stanowią idealny przykład na to, jak śmiertelni wrogowie pod wpływem dość dramatycznych wydarzeń stają się na początku rywalami, by ostatecznie połączyły ich potężne więzy przyjaźni. Relacje Goku-Vegeta to de facto przedstawienie dwóch przeciwnych sobie osób, które wzmacniają się wzajemnie. Zarówno Goku, jak i Vegeta nie osiągnęli by tego co zdobyli, gdyby ten drugi nie stał u ich boku, nie motywował ich. Obserwowanie ich pokręconych relacji w anime to naprawdę czysta przyjemność. Guardians of the Galaxy

One of the most interesting titles of the last few years in a star cast (Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel (voice), Bradley Cooper (voice)). The movie from the Marvel universe premiered in 2014. The production, which was chiseled by James Gunn, stands out from others in the genre with a very free approach to the subject of aliens. There are no great conflicts there, immaculate liberators of the oppressed, and evidently dark evil in black black. There is, however, a loose story in adventurous climates. This is why the Watchmenhave won my appreciation. The plot focuses “only” on the fate of a few interesting characters. They form the core of an interesting story written without swallowing a stick, but with a few sublime moments. Through brilliant dialogues, behaviors or the features of the protagonists, the humor was realized with taste and without idiotic jokes forced on by force. The whole fits perfectly with the assumption in which, by pure coincidence, the characters get in the way. They join forces to fight for themselves and quite unintentionally save the galaxy.

Ewoki

Probably the first science fiction movie I’ve ever watched in my life was Star Wars – A New Hope.Fascinated by Jedi knights, distant planets and modern technology, I watched with bated breath each subsequent part that was broadcast on TV. I remember that my attention was especially drawn to strange aliens – small and huge, green, blue and brown, hairy, covered with insets, gentle and friendly, or extremely cruel. Looking back, it is hard for me to determine which of the star creatures impressed me first. The famous Chewbacca and its funny noises? Maybe the ruthless, hideous Jabba? Regardless of whom I should give priority to arousing my childhood curiosity, I can only name one specific race as my favorite aliens. Of course, these are the Ewoks from Return of the Jedi to me .

At the moment, I would definitely choose many other aliens, from the world of Star Wars and not only, who are much more interesting characters. However, I cannot deny that I have a special fondness for the hairy, hairy Ewoks because of the way they influenced me. It was they who initiated my long-term fascination with strange creatures and fantasy worlds, for which I will always be forever grateful to them. Little Daimaō Junior

Also known as Satan the Heart. He is the reincarnation of Piccolo Daimaō who ruled the Earth for 2 long periods. Originally a Namekian, although he was born on Earth from an egg given by his father just before his death. He is the representative of the Dragon House. Piccolo Daimaō himself was created as a result of the Super Namekian Mega Piccolo split into two parts: Kami, the protector of the Earth, and Satan. After his father’s death, he continued his criminal plan to conquer the planet and enslave people. He was defeated by Son Gokū, and after the fight, he perfected his martial arts for a long time in order to take revenge on the main character of the Dragon Ball series. As a result of the sudden events caused by the Saiyan invasion of Earth, he made an alliance with the “Z Warriors”. He became a martial arts teacher for Goku’s son – Son Gohan. With time, Piccolo’s heart ceased to reign darkness and, instead, there were feelings of care for the Earth. As a result of the merger with Kami, he became the only surviving Super Namekian with both fighting and healing abilities. By many fans, including me, he is considered the real but not biological father of Son Gohan. In addition, he specialized in a huge number of unique techniques in martial arts. He is appreciated by his fans for his amazing intellect. If not for Piccolo’s strategies, the characters of Dragon Ball would have failed many times. Over time, overlooked by the character’s creator – Akira Toriyama, however, he always comes to the rescue when his cleverness and strategy are most needed. Daleks

The cult antagonists of Doctor Who resemble large pepper shakers, with plungers for the sinks instead of hands and a funny laser for eyes. They are a fantasy relic from almost 60 years ago, when the equipment was not very conducive to filmmakers and they often had to do something out of nothing. Their creator modeled on his experiences from World War II, which is why they evoke strong associations with the Nazis. They hate dissimilarity, elevate their race above others, and most of all strive for full power in time and space, which has led to wars with the Time Lords (one of them being the Doctor).

Even if you are unfamiliar with the series, you must have come across their easter eggs more than once in famous productions such as: Looney Tunes in action again (they try to stop Bugs Bunny and his crew),  Theory of Everything   (Stephen Hawking checks his speech synthesizer with a characteristic text from the series), Mr. Bean (the main character put them in the nativity scene), The Big Bang Theory , Futurama , and recently in Lego: Batman . In each performance, however, they repeat their “favorite” and most characteristic line : Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate! – Mateusz Michałek

Marsjanin Marvin

When someone mentions Looney Tunes, we think of Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny or Elmer Fudd. However, we are forgetting about the pursed Marvin the Martian. My beloved character since childhood. So what if he wanted to destroy the Earth. Marvin was devoted to his planet and wore a helmet similar to a Roman legionnaire. We could see his training and discipline in the series Duck Dodgers. Unfortunately, in the world of animators from Warner Bros. discipline will always fail to crazy physics. – Bartosz Stuła

M’gann M’orzz

Another character straight from Mars is M’gann M’orzz. We have had many portraits of this character in the world of DC, but for me, this character made the biggest impression in the first season of the Youth League. The niece of a Martian Hunter, who was ashamed of her true form due to the long-standing conflict between white and green Martians. Nevertheless, gradually Megan accepted her true form and through self-acceptance, she managed to build a happy relationship with Superboy. A story worth recommending to anyone who does not believe in their own strength. – Bartosz Stuła

Audrey II

One day a life loser, Seymour Krelborn became the owner of a mysterious, but exceptionally charming, insectivorous plant. Thanks to her, the florist in which he worked gained great popularity, and Seymour gained in the eyes of his boss and the charming Audrey, with whom he had a long crush. He named the plant in honor of her, quite happy with the new life, but Audrey II quickly began to grow, talk and… crave fresh blood.

The plant wants to fill the world with spores of bloodthirsty plants for which humanity is to be a meal. She is resistant to damage, equipped with extremely efficient climbers, she is extremely wise and can control minds because she came to Earth from the far reaches of space. He has no eyes, but he sees, he has no ears, and he hears perfectly. And he sings brilliantly! Listen for yourself: – Karolina Małas

Diva Plavalaguna

This voice! This is the first thing I think about when I mention this alien. Even though she was not the main character in Luc Besson’s production, she is by far the most memorable. The combination of her appearance (you know Plavalaguna translates as a blue lagoon?) With a delicate and mysterious character made me immediately feel interested in her and her story. Plus THIS VOICE! If you haven’t heard the opera yet, be sure to start YouTube. And here is another curiosity, this character was played by 2 people: the French actress Maiwenn Le Besco lent Diva her body, and the voice of the Albanian opera singer Inva Mula-Tchako. – Jaroslaw Trock

He stood guard over it, saving it from the most numerous threats. Kal-El, also known as Clark Kent, and most of all Superman, loved our planet and has always been its guardian. Finally, two more aliens that we would prefer not to meet on our way. The first of them appeared in 1979, and Sigourney Weaver was the first to fight him. We met the second one in 1987, and Arnold Schwarzenegger had to fight him. Both aliens faced each other in 2004 and fought an incredible battle. It is difficult to say which one is better or more popular. However, none can be forgotten today.
