Fast, faster and faster – a review of the card game “Velonimo. Animal on a bike

Beautiful

The game is made very aesthetically – the box immediately attracts attention. The white and pink finish of Dominique Mertens and the graphic of a cow riding a too-small bike makes us smile. Inside are 49 player cards for 2-5 players aged 7+. The players are divided into 7 teams of different colors, each team consists of 7 different animal cards numbered from 1 to 7. In each team, each animal appears only once.

In addition, the box also includes 6 escape cards (worth between 25 and 50 points) and a card of the prestigious carrot and pea t-shirt (received by the person with the most points at the end of the round). In addition, we also get a scoring notebook with cute graphics. And it’s all for the fun of the player!

Velonimo

The title is very inventive and cleverly introduces the theme of the card game. The creators signal that we need 5 minutes to learn the rules, 5 for a round, 30-40 for the entire game! By combining players in appropriate combinations, we strive to get rid of 11 cards as quickly as possible (those we get in hand at the beginning of the round). However, we must remember that although the goal of the game is to win the individual stages of the race, score as many points as possible and win the prestigious Carrot and Peas T-shirt, the most important thing is strategy! The best combinations should be saved until the cards allow the player to take the lead and win the stage.

In the team

I liked Velonimo very much, but … in the multiplayer version, simply – the more the better (of course, up to 5 players). I loved the idea of ​​leader cards easily thwarting opponents (but again, this variation works best in multiplayer). Fans of card games for two – don’t worry! The creators have prepared special rules – water carrier cards (camel) and attack attack. These in-game add-ons may be of interest to you if you prefer to spend time together. I recommend Velonimo to all fans of card games and… beautiful illustrations!
