We can say that both 2021 and the last years were full of intriguing productions, such as the now popular Squid Game , the well-received Witcher or even the successful adaptation of Alice in Borderland . And although we have so many great and new series to watch, we sometimes reach for good old productions. Therefore, today I would like to introduce you to some older fantasy and sci-fi series that – despite their age – still have fun.
Doctor!
If we suffer from a difficult case of boredom, take it easy, because it is already flying to us from a different space-time with its healing series Doktor Who . It’s a British tapeworm produced by the BBC station, which dates back to 1963. The Doctor series was created until 1989 and had 26 seasons, after which it was suspended. In 2005, however, it returned in a new version, which is already better known to younger viewers. For those of you who haven’t had a chance to see Doctor Who yet, I will briefly explain what he is actually talking about. Well, the whole series presents the adventures of the Doctor – a representative of the Time Lords race, traveling through time and space, often saving various civilizations and planets. On these journeys, he takes his newly met friends, because, as he says himself, he is saddened by lonely trips. Definitely a must-see for science fiction fans.

I don’t think I need to introduce this iconic two to anyone, do I? FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are a duo dealing with unusual cases that cannot be explained by logical thinking alone. They run the eponymous X-Files – a cell of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to which such mysterious cases end up. The main element that drives the entire plot mechanism is their specific relationship, consisting in a different view of the events they encounter. Agent Mulder is firmly convinced that extraterrestrials do exist, and Agent Scully, as a scientist, is skeptical of everything that happens around them. The X Files was founded in 1993 and is a mixture of genres such as: sensation, thriller, horror and science fiction. I strongly recommend it to any alien lover.
The story of Clark Kent’s fate before Superman?
If you like the man of steel as much as I do, then I’m sure you guys had a great time watching his adventures before becoming a famous superhero. Smallville ‘s Secrets was released between 2001 and 2011, and although it’s already covered in wrinkles, it’s still exciting as a superhero work. All the action is initially focused on the teenage years of Clark, thanks to which we get to know not only the early adventures of our hero, but also the beginnings of many other important characters. In season five, however, Superman enters adulthood and we are introduced to his career in the “Daily Planet” and the various heroes and villains from other comics. You can’t miss such a treat from the DC universe!
If you wait, the rat will always lead you to its hole
A rather obvious thing to those who watched the show is that Lost could not help but get lost here. It is a fantasy-adventure TV production with thriller elements, created in 2004 and lasting until 2010. It shows us the lives of passengers of an airplane that crashed on a mysterious island filled with many strange things, which will often surprise us and make us watch the next episodes with tension. Lost not only achieved global fan popularity, but also critical acclaim, earning the series a Golden Globe and Emmy Awards in 2005. Honestly speaking, I don’t think any argument is good enough to avoid seeing this immersive masterpiece. Therefore, Dear Reader, do not sit with your arms folded and turn it onLost !
Monsters of this and Not of this world
The creatures that lurked in our wardrobe and under the bed after dark, no longer threaten us. Sometimes I have to be careful not to meet Dean and Sam Winchesters. Brothers whose life has become the fight against dangerous supernatural beings. Supernatural is an epic urban fantasy franchise with lots of horror that will take us through horror and chills through 15 seasons. Supernatural , translated into Polish as Not of this world, debuted in 2005. When the first episode was broadcast, it was watched by over 5 million viewers, prompting Warner Bros. (then The CW) to order the next seasons. As we well know, the fight of our monster hunters did not end there. I highly suggest to the brave hearts that have not seen this super-production yet.
After all, this is not the end of old – but old – series
There are plenty of series and luckily there will be more and more of them. Even if a really long time has passed since some of them were released, they will still be in our hearts, and their great plot and characters will impress the next generations.
