Dogma
“God also has a sense of humor. Otherwise it would not have created a platypus.
These words are part of the motto of Kevin Smith’s 1999 film, which crudely parodies the ossification of the institutional Church and blind dogmatism. Under the guise of a coarse comedy with the characters of Jay and the silent Bob in the background, he asks questions about the nature of faith and the role of religion in the modern world. These words are an ideal commentary on the outcry that is often raised when parodying objects of religious worship by pop culture. By the way, it is significant that Dogma also met with protests, and even with the accusation of offending religious feelings (the case was dismissed). The motto of the film has a special place in my heart, because it perfectly sums up my attitude to these matters, and besides, it refers to the most wonderful of divine creatures. – Damian “Nox” Lesicki
