In the fourth notebook, Smurfette is the same Smurf as the others , one of the most difficult problems faced by children and their parents is discussed – respecting differences. Is Smurfette, the only girl in Smurf’s village, really the same Smurf as the others? You will learn this from reading the comic and … our tavern review!
Smurf Equality
In the first part of the comic, the creators show us what Smurfette’s life is like. The villagers always respect her, but it should not be concealed that they also treat her a bit differently – instead of playing tricks, they give flowers, do their duties, do not believe that she could match them in exemplary sports. The protagonist is not satisfied with the fact that she cannot perform certain activities due to her gender, especially since, as we all know, gender differences in the village of Smurfs is a sensitive topic. Smurfette, wanting to avoid special treatment, comes up with a brilliant plan. Take a look at the comic and see what a great solution to the problem our little heroine found!
About emotions with a child psychologist
The second part of the album is advice that was developed by Diane Drory, a child psychologist and psychoanalyst. She openly asks the audience – Do you feel different / different? It cannot be denied that the word “other” generates many meanings and can be understood in many ways. Respecting diversity will therefore be understood as abandoning stereotypes, rejection of discrimination, and thus broadly understood tolerance. We can presume that such a message is found in the notebook in question. Polish psychologist, Sylwia Jatczak, emphasizes that instead of buying an expensive toy for a child (which is supposed to favor the acceptance of peers), one should talk to the student about possible exclusion from the group. It also explains how to use a comic book in a functional way and change the approach to tolerance – the youngest should be made aware of the fact that otherness, diversity and individuality are not bad, it is only worth trying to understand them. The peer-reviewed issue also includes Papa Smurf’s advice, who emphasizes
About the comic
The authors of the Smurf proposal for the youngest are Falzar and Thierry Culliford, a descendant of Peyo (screenplay), Antonello Dalena (drawings) and Paolo Maddaleni (colors). Marta Mosiewicz, whose translation is known to every fan of the Smurf universe, is responsible for the translation. The first part of the comic, no more than thirty pages long, is the story of the Smurf heroine, the second is the creative ideas of a child psychologist that each parent can use in a functional way. The book, like all notebooks in the series, is very thin and it will probably get damaged after repeated reading, but I still think it’s worth it! Smurf’s story will surely delight you, and the message will stay in your mind for a long time.
