Enemies of humanity! Beware… – review of the comic book “Talentless Nana”, vol. 1-2

Talentless Nana looks inconspicuous, because we can see a cheerful girl on the cover. Is this another typical school story or does this manga have something more to offer?

Talented versus untalented

Talentless Nana actiontakes place in a school for gifted students to hone their powers to fight the enemies of humanity. It sounds terribly pompous, but when the main character, the title Nana, appears at the very beginning, everything turns upside down. Suddenly, it turns out that people endowed with supernatural powers are enemies of humanity, and the main character, deprived of her unique talent, only intends to kill them with the help of personal charm and intelligence. The idea for the plot is very interesting and engaging, after all, Nana really has to prove herself to defeat even a time-manipulating individual. Most interestingly, the question arises as to whether the protagonist is really on the right side. The author has a lot to show off! I have no doubts that the following volumes will be full of unexpected twists.

An innocent girl

Nana is amazing, very perceptive, and she can deduce like Sherlock Holmes. Let’s add to this incredible intelligence and personal charm; It is thanks to these features that it works perfectly in the role of treacherous. Her biggest rival is Kyouya, who suspects her from the very beginning, but despite the fact that he sees some connections, he lacks even the motive of the behavior of a new classmate. The other heroes have various features: we have a classy handsome and a typical tormentor. On the other hand, many students are likable in their own way; for this reason, Nana’s mission raises some moral questions from the outset.

The unique charm of Nana

The line does not stand out with anything special. I can only emphasize that the cartoonist skillfully captures the emotions that accompany Nana. Both her joy, fear and determination, and especially perfectly reflect her terrifying other face. Her optimism is so contagious that I am not surprised that she can lead everyone by the nose so easily. Anyway, its duplicity can be seen when the first two volumes are put together.

I have no objections to the issue. Standard manga , of a typical size, for a good price.

Was it worth it? Facing the enemies of humanity?

The Boys , Death Note and Assassin Class are three interesting, original titles that, at first glance, have nothing to do with Talentless Nana. Nevertheless, while reading, I had strong associations with these titles. First, there is a role reversal, namely individuals endowed with supernatural powers are enemies, and a person without talent fights them, as indicated by the title. Second, Nana runs into a dangerous rival. Kyouya is interested in the sudden disappearance of one of the students, closely following the actions of the protagonist, and is also extremely intelligent. Third, the action takes place in the school reality. A group of talented kids have been gathered in an isolated place and practice their abilities in combat. I like all the themes put together, though maybe because of these Talentless Nana associationsIt does not seem like an original item (I emphasize, however, that there are a lot of great elements here!). I can mention the ingenious and unusual assassination attempts or the insane abilities of individual Talents, for example how to defeat a person who sees the future! This manga positively surprised me because the action is very fast. The heroes, especially Nana and Kyouya, form an intriguing duo. And the cliffhanger in the second volume is so surprising that I can’t wait for the next part to see if the protagonist will win this time. I definitely recommend Talentless Nana . This is my favorite manga by Waneko at the moment !
