The campaign to fund the Penny Dreadfun 2.0 board game is over. We check whether the creators achieved the intended goal.
Penny Dreadfun is a game that combines classic elements of adventure games with modern solutions, such as an RPG system of choices and their consequences, building a deck responsible for character development and performing numerous activities, including those using a separate combat system with opponents. The title gives us great freedom of movement, and the open world provides hours of entertainment. The creators also introduced several variants of the game – we can face other players, try the cooperative or semi-cooperative mode. There is also a classic RPG variant at our disposal. As for the world itself, we will move to the Victorian era, specifically to 1888. The Queen has just escaped from Buckingham Palace and set off to… hell! It is for this reason that the dimensional gates have been opened and the demons are invading London.
We will not keep you in suspense any longer – Penny Dreadfun managed to collect slightly over 100% of the required amount on Kickstarter and it is now certain that it will hit the market! By the way, we managed to unlock several bonuses related to this unusual board game:
– The game mode known as Boss Rush, a cooperative system in which all players must work closely together to defeat the main enemy, has been made available online via Tabletopia . By the way, the creators want to create a special channel on Discord to make it easier to play the game.
– applications for Android and iOS systems were created to facilitate the game and create new scenarios. It is supposed to generate new villains and rewards for us, and improve the combat system.
– five special tiles have been added to represent famous places in London. They are to diversify the scenarios and make the fight with the Boss more attractive.
– 110 blank cards have been introduced, allowing us to create our own stories.
– a free .pdf add-on has appeared, containing several new status cards, such as for example hysteria, gangrene or poison, which players will be able to shuffle along with the normal deck of status cards.
– the creators have prepared new scenarios, cards for bosses, shops, enemies, rewards and special tasks.
– a new hero has appeared in the game, which can be controlled by the player. It is the famous Captain Nemo! The character received his own figurine with a likeness and special hero cards.
As you can see, the Redi Games studio has tried hard to diversify the gameplay as much as possible. That’s why we are delighted that the campaign was successful and we are already excited to test Penny Dreadfun for ourselves !
