“Emilka Sza. How much is nothing? ” already on sale

On October 13, the album “Emilka Sza. How much is nothing? ”. The captivating story, full of absurd humor, shows that the world can also be perceived in an unusual, unconventional way.

The title character of the comic, Emilka Sza, is a mime and lives in an invisible house. The girl has snow-white skin, is proudly silent about the fact that she did not make a sound in her life and was born in a hospital that only she saw. Emilka is friends with Natalia, a blind playboy guitarist. Emilka amazes everyone … except for Maja, Natalka’s second friend, who becomes deathly jealous of Emilia. Or at least until he sees her talents as an opportunity for quick money. What will come of this?

Emilka Sza. How much is nothing? is a moral comedy in the convention of magical realism. The album about Emilka’s adventures is a proposal for everyone who is looking for something new and fresh in comics. Here you will find humor that is sometimes abstract and inclines to non-standard and creative thinking.

This is what the screenwriter Maciej Kur says about the album.

Comics teach to appreciate what is different and different. It is also a rare example of a Polish comic book, the characters of which are people with disabilities: Natalia cannot see, Emilka does not speak, but it does not prevent them from being friends, they are a harmonious duo and complement each other. Together with the rest of their friends, they form an eccentric group that celebrates their own difference. The story has several other layers, so that rereading can make it read all over again. It’s full of madness, but also warmth and tenderness. This album proves that even emptiness is beautiful when we see it with our heart.

The aforementioned Maciej Kur has, among others, scenarios to Kajko and Kokosz – New Adventures and the animated adaptation Kajka and Kokosz for Netflix. The drawings were made by Magdalena “Meago” Kani, who specializes mainly in cartoon and Asian style illustrations. In addition to comics, she also worked in the computer games industry (including ports for such titles as Ultra Street Fighter, Tales of Zestiria and  Dark Souls: Remastered ).
