The Toxic Avenger reboot is slated to begin this summer, the title role was announced, and unofficial reports of another cast member recently surfaced on the web. It would be Elijah Wood.
The source of this information is The Illuminerdi, who believes that the actor will appear in the upcoming film from Legendary as a significant character, and one of the villains of the Toxic Avenger : Bob Garbinder himself, the main character’s boss. The official description of the character reads:
The evil boss of a suspicious company Garb X. He cares about the welfare of no one but himself and starts a murderous frenzy to become as powerful as the Toxic Avenger.
The credibility of this report may be added by the fact that Wood has already collaborated with Macon Blair, the director of the film in question. An example of this is, for example, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, in which Wood played one of the main roles. But apart from that, the actor is a longtime friend of the creator. So if the rumor turns out to be true, the star of The Lord of the Rings will appear alongside the lead actor – Peter Dinklage ( Game of Thrones, I’ll Take Care of Everything ), as well as Jacob Tremblay and Taylor Paige.
The original 1984 Toxic Avenger was the title of the iconic Troma Entertainment studio specializing in low-budget operating theaters. It quickly turned out to be its most successful production, which is why it became the beginning of the entire series from a single film. This, in turn, has got musicals in its honor, comics and even cartoons for children.
Reboot will take viewers to the fantasy world in which Winston lives – the stereotypical mollusk working as a janitor at the Garb X fitness club. He is diagnosed with a deadly disease that can only be cured by expensive therapy. However, he cannot afford it, because his greedy, power-hungry employer is not going to pay for it. Winson decides to take matters into his own hands and rob the company he works for. But this decision leads to misfortune – the man falls into the toxic waste depot and turns into a deformed monster. Then his goal changes and Winston decides to do good. One way to do this is to pay back all those who hurt him previously.
More details about the Toxic Avenger are unknown and a release date has yet to be announced.
