It has been announced who will play the title role in the movie “Doctor Jekyll”. History, however, will see major changes compared to the source material.
British comedian Eddie Izzard will play the role of Nina Jekyll in the latest interpretation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s book. Everything was announced by the Variety website, which also revealed the outline of the plot. The main character is a loner trying to stop Hyde from destroying her life. She is helped by her newly employed assistant Rob (played by Scott Chambers), with whom Nina becomes friends.
The director of the picture is Joe Stephenson, and the script writer is Dan Kelly-Mulhern. In an interview with Variety, both Izzard and Stephenson said they were very excited to be able to tell this classic story in a new way. The director also made superlatives about the actors of Nina and Rob.
Universal’s label intends to follow a similar path with Doctor Jekyll as it did with 2020 ‘s Invisible Man . That production turned out to be a great success, incl. thanks to the focus of the plot on the victim of the title antagonist rather than on himself. Undoubtedly, such iconic characters as Jekyll and Hyde deserve attention, especially after the plans to create the Dark Universe collapsed shortly after Mumia debuted .
It is not known when the premiere of Doctor Jekyll can be expected .
