Ed Sheeran has revealed that he will be the next artist to release the song in collaboration with The Pokemon Company! The song will be called Celestial and will be released on September 29. While waiting for the track to be released, Sheeran unveiled a cover excerpt.
Sheeran is a longtime fan of the Pokémon franchise , from TCG to anime. In an Instagram post, he shared his excitement about the song’s music video and the possibility of collaborating with The Pokemon Company.
I started with Pokémon cards when I was around 7 years old. Then a TV show came out so I tried to record it on VHS every week. My brother and I shared a game boy and a Pokémon blue. For my eighth birthday I got a game boy in pokemon yellow. Let’s move to the present, to me at 31. I still have the same Game Boy color and still play Pokémon silver during flights. I really really love it. When I was a young boy it was my escape into a fantastic world, and in my adult life this nostalgia makes me feel like a child again. I met people from the Pokémon Company while traveling in Japan and we joked that I was writing a song for them. Here we are. Celestial is coming out next Thursday and the music video is amazing, animated by fantastic people. I love it, you will love it too.

Ed’s collaboration with The Pokemon Company is not the only one. Previously, they were, among others Katy Perry, J Balvin and Post Malone. While the songs featured Pokémon-themed music videos, the lyrics themselves had little to do with the series. Time will tell if Sheeran’s song will mention franchise items.
