The MCU introduced a lot of male heroes to us. Captain America, Iron Man and Thor beat the world's cinemas. However, the time has come for a female hero. And there was probably no better choice than Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.
Back to the VHS era
The film Captain Marvel is set in the 90s to get to know him, Carol Danvers, a former US Air Force pilot who lost her memory and are currently fighting on the side branches against the Kree Skrullom. Together with her, we discover her past, but also experience the latest adventure. During it, our heroine returns to Earth, where she meets Nick Fury and with him discovers the truth about the activities of Starforce. Soon she will fight with her recent allies. To do this, however, he must first learn the true power that lies within him and become the most powerful of the superheroes.

Scheda po Mar-Vellu
Captain MarvelLike all MCU movies, it is obviously based on a comic book of the same title. It’s worth mentioning that, initially, Captain Marvel was male and not from Earth at all. It was a representative of the Kree race named Mar-Vell, who came to our planet by accident. He soon fell in love with this new world, took the name of Walter Lawson and began working as a scientist. Thanks to his extraordinary powers, he also took on the identity of Captain Marvel, and kept law and order along with the other superheroes. He was often accompanied on his missions by a certain Carol Danvers. It was with her by his side that he destroyed Psyche-Magnitron, which wounded the girl and made her DNA mixed with his and turned her into a combination of human and Kree, giving her superhuman abilities. Some time later, the Captain, after contact with Compound 13 gas, fell ill with cancer and died in Titan. His duties were of course taken over by Danvers, who had become the new Captain Marvel. The character of Mar-Vell is also shown in the movie. However, his history and gender were changed and introduced as Wendy Lawson.

The changes don’t have to be bad
Of course, the story of Mar-Vell is not the only difference between a movie and a comic book. The history of Carol herself also differs significantly from those known from the notebooks. First of all, her past has been cut short. The large family and the struggle with the father who did not accept his daughter were not shown. She also did not have the opportunity to meet Ben Grimm, collaborate with Wolverin, create her outfit with WASP or be tortured by the Black Widow. There was no mention of her alcohol problem, and the power itself, while enormous, seems much less than that of the original Captain Marvel. In my opinion, however, we cannot complain. The creators had to cut down on its story, otherwise we would have ended up with a series, not a cinema movie. So we get a summary of the former life of our main character, which we discover gradually. There are ups and downs in it, as well as a few twists. Also, the power awakening in Carol and her current life are presented in an original way and clearly differ from the genesis of many other heroes, told in other Marvel films. So the creators had an idea for the title and realized it very well. This is also due to the actors of the main roles. Brie Larson was perfect for the role of Captain Marvel, Jude Law showed class by playing Yon-Rogg, and Samuel L. Jackson once again proved that the role of Nick Fury was made for him.

As part of the repetition
The Galapagos publishing house has released a DVD Kapitan Marvel on the Polish market . As with many other titles, we get the opportunity to refresh the movie. Apart from him, we will not find anything else on the album. So we have an easy-to-use menu, a choice of several languages and subtitles, including Polish of course, and that’s it. The sound is in Dolby Digital 5.1 quality and the picture format is widescreen (2.39: 1). The disc also includes subtitles for the deaf, albeit only in English. So if you want a lot of extras, you need to get the Blu-ray version. For the less demanding, who only want to be able to recall the adventures of Carol Danvers at any time, the DVD is enough.

Short and to the point
Captain Marvel is certainly another successful creation from the MCU stable. It begins a completely new chapter in which Carol will have a lot to say, and viewers will get more superhero films in which women will not only be helpers and background for heroes, but will play the main roles in them. As for the Galapagos DVD release, as usual, it is unsatisfied that the recipient gets nothing but the film itself. On the other hand, he is the most important here.
