Made by Maciej Kur (script) and Magdalena “Meago” Kania (drawings) – Emily Sza – surprises on many levels. The story of a mime girl with a snow-white face can delight you many times – it also depends on the perspective you take.
Multidimensionality
The authors of the comic book are Polish authors who show the world of a mime girl, Emilka, in an interesting way. She is an extraordinary heroine and despite the fact that she is silent, she communicates with her friends in an original and extremely effective way. There are only a few, but he can rely on them. The distance to disability also characterizes a blind girl, Natalia, Emilka’s best friend. Besides, in the comic you can distinguish Eric, Natalia’s cousin, and Maja, her friend. The authors do not shy away from difficult topics that could make a story dramatic, instead teaching the reader how to laugh. Along with the heroes, of course.
Humor
Emilka Szacan have fun and let those who never smile even once throw a stone first! The title character lives in a house that cannot be seen, so we have to trust her when it comes to the equipment! If we are not careful enough during the visit, we may break the sculpture or fall down the stairs. So remember the rules! Kur and Kania do not trivialize the story, but show in a beautiful way what friendship and trust are. During the first reading, reading the dialogues and in love with charming graphics, we may not notice how valuable the message of this comic is. Reading the authors’ suggestions allows you to realize how important the support and help of another person is, even if our relations are not the best at first. Another point that I pay attention to is the facial expressions of the characters – delightful and refined.Emilka Sza is a comic book characterized by a rather traditional structure – the frames are square, and the speech bubbles – usually, but not always – streamlined. Huge applause for the graphic artist that she was able to present this – just as well written one! – history.
Accessories
The comic was released in a hardcover. When you get to know the adventures of Emilka and her friends, I recommend you take a look at the addition. There are the first designs of heroes (facial expressions, facial expressions …, a masterpiece!), But also characters in pencil versions, small frames, poems and an epilogue. On the end paper, on the other hand, you will notice the heroine in many poses, which indicates the unusual work of the graphic artist and her contribution to creative work. In conclusion, the comic published by Egmont deserves attention. It is recommended not only for teenagers, but also for adults who learn how to talk about disabilities with their pupils.
