This fall – 2023 – comes Dune 2 , the conclusion to Frank Herbert’s theatrical adaptation of the sci-fi epic. The sequel will feature new cast members including Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Pugh spoke about her experiences working on the film and her relationship with her collaborators Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya and Austin Butler.
It’s actually interesting because for most of my career I’ve worked with a lot of older actors that I’ve had to hold off on. I learned a lot by observing . The specific actors up front like Timmy [Chalamet], Zendaya and Austin [Butler] are extraordinary people. They are stars in their own way, not in a stereotypical way of using that word. They are just brilliant people. I’m lucky to call them all my friends. For me, being able to work with “young Hollywood” right now is exciting – then I have them on my phone when I want to text them. The direction in which our industry is heading is very forward-looking – it’s something wonderful.
Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Javier Bardem as Stilgarz, and Christopher Walker as Emperor Shaddam IV are also expected to return in Dune 2 .
I feel like I’m the hero of my own story. And that can be difficult with some characters. For others it’s easier, but you can’t judge characters and you have to find a way to feel motivated for all of your actions. So we had a lot of conversations and we made it together. Denis is very considerate, he lacks nothing and his attention to detail is extraordinary. Denis is amazing – he is an amazing director. The energy in his plans is amazing, everyone trusts him so much – he’s such a well-oiled machine. He is a master of this craft. – Butler explained in an interview in late 2022.
Autumn 2023 will bring us many surprises, who knows? Maybe Dune 2 will be the discovery of the current year?
