The Donald Duck magazine will be published for the thousandth time! The 11/2019 issue, available for sale from October 25 this year, will be a jubilee edition. The great celebration of the anniversary is, as usual, great comics by authors such as Korhonen, Branca, Pineda, Fernandez or Murry in the magazine, as well as 5 gifts and a great competition with a hundred prizes.
Donald Duckis one of the oldest children’s comic magazines in Poland. Successive generations of Kaczkofans admire the adventures of Donald, Scrooge, Mickey Mouse and Goofi. On the pages of the funniest monthly, in addition to stories bursting with humor, readers can find the latest information about iconic games, sports and athletes, new technologies and puzzles, intelligent word games, contests and curiosities. The magazine presents classic Disney comics by such creators as: Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Vicar, as well as contemporary drawn stories created by artists from around the world. Their strength is humor, fast-paced action, surprising punch lines, a group of diverse characters and a perfect translation. Also popular are jokes and original “drake” gifts attached to the magazine – toys, gadgets for making jokes.
I fell in love with Donald Duck almost at first sight. I found a newspaper that had interesting stories that lasted more than a few minutes to read. I was also delighted that the world of Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse is not limited to just a few cartoon characters, but is a vibrant universe full of interesting characters such as Scrooge, Goguś and Diodak. I also liked the articles, which often contained jokes, riddles and curiosities. However, I remember most fondly the double Christmas numbers, which for years were obligatory pre-Christmas reading – confirms what is characteristic of the magazine Radosław Koch, founder of the website komiksydisneya.pl
The magazine has been published by Egmont Polska since April 28, 1994, as a continuation of the “Mickey Mouse” magazine, the first issue of which was published in Poland in October 1990. At that time, it was a pioneering children’s comic magazine on the Polish market, focused on providing entertainment. Today the magazine continues this tradition. Extremely popular over the years. The Polish magazine, already published in 1000 issues, has reached a total circulation of nearly 150 million copies! It is worth mentioning that the 10th issue of the weekly from 1999 saw the highest sales, selling nearly 300,000 copies.
Donald Duck needs no introduction. This iconic figure is known to young and old alike. Positive emotions and a sense of humor connect generations!
Every time I met with him, his optimism and energy infused me for the whole day – says Jarosław Boberek, actor, who lends his voice to Donald Duck.
Donald Duck first appeared in cinemas in 1934. Oscar winner, celebrity honored with his own star on Hollywood Boulevard. He also quickly became the hero of comic books, the most popular cartoonists of which were Carl Barks and Don Rosa. The first worldwide edition of the Duck Donald magazine was published in 1949. Currently, it is published in dozens of countries.
Maciej Kur, screenwriter of “Oskar and Fabrycy”, “Lil and Put”, “Kajko and Kokosz – Nowe Przygody”, co-creator of animated series and documentaries, also speaks with sentiment about his childhood fascination with Donald Duck.
I had the pleasure to start my adventure with “Donald Duck” from the very beginning … and even earlier, because from the first issue of “Mickey Mouse” – the magazine that was its precursor. The duck world was a bit like visiting good old friends in whose company you are always welcome. I remember what impression the family tree of Donald Duck made on me, where everyone collected stickers discovering the ancestors and family ties of our favorite ducks – it was crazy! It was fun!
In the retrospective, “Donald Duck” was a magazine for my generation as important as “Relax” or “Świat Młodych” for the older ones – it was thanks to him that hundreds of thousands of kids discovered comics, developed their imaginations, but also broadened their knowledge about the world. Probably, if not for “Donald Duck” I would never be interested in comics … If someone is still wondering how to get their kids into picture stories, I can’t imagine a better recipe for success. So I salute all Kaczogrodzian, Myszogrodzian, McKwacz, Kwaczak, De Czar, Be, Kwabotyn, Young Boy Scouts, Sikorki, clever Kaczorki and this friendly computer who greeted us for good morning! Congratulations on the thousandth issue and another thousand please!
Today, Egmont Polska regularly publishes other publications with heroes from Kaczogród – GIGANT POLECA, MEGA GIGA, MAMUT GIGANT.
