According to reports from Collider , Lundgren revealed his participation in the new installment based on The Witcher. during an interview for the Swedish outlet Aftonbladet. No additional information has been provided, but the site speculates that the spin-off may be related to the Rats, which was leaked earlier this year. Netflix has yet to officially announce the project, but the characters first appeared in the book Time of Contempt . The Witcher season 3 will be largely based on this book, so viewers should get to know these characters when it releases this summer.
Apparently, The Rats spin-off is in production under the working title Riff Raff. Leaks from the series suggest that it will focus on a group of teen thieves who “have to rely on their criminal skills as they plan the biggest heist of their career against the kingdom’s most dangerous criminal group.” Given the age of the main characters, Collider speculated that Lundgren could be considered a great antagonist in the series, but readers should take all of this with a grain of salt until we get official word from Netflix.
Lundgren has experience playing scary characters, including Frank Castle in the 1989 feature The Punisher as well as Konstantin Kovar in Arrow . It is not hard to imagine that the actor is an interesting addition to the world of The Witcher and a serious threat to the Rats trying to commit a robbery.
The Witcher: Bloodline debuted late last year, helping fans make it through to the premiere of Season 3. Presumably, a new Rats-based spin-off could also fill the void between Seasons 3 and 4, but that remains to be seen.
