Vader a savior and even a lover
In this volume of stories about the Chosen One, we come across five stories, each of which is unique in its own way and each is thought-provoking. In the first one, we deal with a strange situation: Vader, probably considered a mass murderer by all Star Wars fans , somehow became a god and a savior. The second chapter is a bit less surprising, but you can still feel the extreme emotions that the general, the main character of the story, struggled with.
The third story is, in my opinion, the best of all in this volume. The romantic plot that appears there ends very unexpectedly, is something completely new and may leave the reader in shock (I lived this particular chapter long after reading it). The fourth and fifth stories make the slightest impression, but that doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with them – they were just a bit less exciting, more suited to Vader’s evil nature, just enhancing it.
The comic can definitely be completed in one fell swoop, especially since the plot is really addictive. The action is fast, there are no unnecessary “stuffers”.
Not only the plot
It is also worth reaching for this comic because of the drawings. The drawing style is pleasing to the eye, everything looks aesthetic and consistent, despite the fact that each chapter was dealt with by a different illustrator. The atmosphere of Star Wars is really well depicted in the pictures. In this respect, it is worth paying particular attention to the covers of individual chapters and alternative covers at the end of the volume.
Looking closely at the illustrations, I must pay attention to the faces of the characters. This part of the illustrators’ work is admirable – the facial expressions of the characters perfectly reflect
their emotions, strongly influencing the reader. Sadness, fear, panic, love and tons of more have been put down on paper, that’s the best part of the artistic side. Thanks to this, you can feel everything with the main characters, and this is absolutely necessary in this case, because some chapters are strongly based on emotions. Vader himself in the drawings also looks as it should – dark, scary, like a real tyrant.
The release itself is also aesthetic. The comic book is printed on decent, good quality paper, the pages do not stick together, and the pictures and colors on them are vivid and clear. A little addition at the end in the form of a few alternative covers, it’s a pity that there isn’t a bit more. The text is legible, the letters are the right size.
More Dark Visions!
By far the best part of the entire volume was the different perspectives – in what chapter we see Vader, the greatest terror of the galaxy at that time, in a completely different light, because each hero is in a different situation and sees him in completely different circumstances, without realizing the whole picture. This knowledge is possessed by the reader who has watched the films before. It must be emphasized that to fully enjoy reading this comic, you need to know the universe at least to the extent that you know who Vader is, what is on his conscience. Without this, it will be difficult for us to fall into the vortex of all the reflections that are triggered by the various perspectives mentioned earlier. “It all depends on the point of sitting.” It’s a pity that the comic ended so quickly, because I’d love to get to know even more of Darth Vader’s dark visions.
