“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Insanity” on Blu-ray ™ and DVD!

Doctor Strange – an outstanding neurosurgeon, whose process of becoming a wizard we saw in the 2016 film ( Doctor Strange ), has undoubtedly been one of the leading characters of the Marvel universe in recent years. Now he returns in another movie that pushes the boundaries of the fantasy genre into darker and more terrifying parts. When Dr. Stephen Strange began to explore the mystical arcana, the Ancient One told him: If I had to tell you all the secrets, you would run away screaming in terror . At the time, no one imagined how prophetic these words could be. Five years later , Sam Raimi, a master of horror and a wizard of emotions, took the helm of the second part of Doctor Strange .

Superhero movies are nothing new to this director. He was responsible for the production and production of the 1990 Darkman movie and the original Spider-Man trilogy . What made him return to the world of superheroes after almost 15 years?

When Kevin Feige announced that he wanted to introduce a horror element to “Doctor Strange,” I was curious about it, Raimi explains. – I’ve always liked horror and suspense as building blocks for movies. Dr. Strange interests me as a character partly because he is a magician. Growing up, I performed as an illusionist at children’s parties and weddings. I really enjoyed creating illusions. A superhero who is an illusionist and magician is especially compelling.

Those familiar with Raimi’s films know that he uses filmmaking tools to achieve both comic and artistic effects, not afraid to push the boundaries of what audiences can accept and often reaching areas that few directors dare to venture into. . Raimi has long been a die-hard fan of comics, and his camera operation is largely inspired by this medium – its extreme close-ups, tilted angles, and quick cuts mimic the comic.

The title character is once again played by the outstanding Benedict Cumberbatch, twice nominated for an Oscar® ^for Best Leading Actor ( Mystery Game, Dog’s Claws ). As he himself says about his character, entering the Multiverse is, above all, an opportunity for self-discovery:

Strange notices, thanks to his experiences in the Multiverse and the different versions of himself that he encounters there, how many patterns of behavior he carries within himself. It is a kind of deeply imprinted information about Dr. Stephen Strange’s identity in each world, and about the dangers of this character. Will he be a hero to an enemy or an enemy to a hero? Who is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse? He literally meets different versions of himself to unravel this mystery.

Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the role of Wanda, has also joined the cast. She first appeared in the universe in 2014 in the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier . The fact that Wanda has her own series, as well as a character that is a permanent part of the Marvel movie world, testifies to Olsen’s remarkable ability to humanize the mighty sorceress from the comic books and give her complex traits that audiences around the world can identify with.

But the latest movie also introduces an entirely new character to America Chavez played by 16-year-old Xochitl Gomez. It is she who shows Stephen Strange the possibility of entering the Multiverse.

The idea of ​​a multiverse is an infinite number of parallel universes, each containing everything that already exists but in a different reality. It is the possibility of imagining many different versions of ourselves, living in different versions of the reality we know, which is different in different ways and with different effects from our present life. This is the multiverse.

With the introduction of America Chavez with the power to travel between universes, this potential has been multiplied, enabling filmmakers to explore the multiverse in ways previously unknown in the Marvel movie world. There is tremendous potential with such power.
