Any opportunity to meet and play board games is good. Some of them, like Halloween, can inspire us to reach for titles from a specific category. Today we are celebrating a spooky holiday, so we decided to offer you a few games with graphics that will allow you to feel the atmosphere of horror.
Mysterious house
One of the cooperative games that are suitable for both parties and family afternoons and that I will always recommend is The Secret House. It has a great atmosphere and provides a lot of entertainment. On the one hand, we have a ghost and detectives, a murder investigation and an old house, and on the other – an association game that will surely make you laugh more than once. Simple rules will allow you to sit down at the table almost immediately and start the game. The graphic side of the production also deserves attention and praise. It is she who allows us to empathize with the main characters and move to the title house. We visit old rooms, ruined courtyards or forgotten cellars. Additionally, we will be haunted by unusual dreams, full of abstractions and dark events. So it will blow with terror. And although the local ghost is not dangerous, and even helps us (or actually we), the board game will be perfect for Halloween!
Bloodborne. Board game
As the list will be filled with ghosts or other ghosts, I decided to reach elsewhere. About Bloodborne in a loud environment recently (and rightly so!) For several reasons. First, it is a game based on the highly rated PlayStation game. Secondly, it’s a game from CMON, so it’s full of figurines in spectacular poses, and full sets from Kickstarter sell for horrendous money. Thirdly, finally, the Portal announced the Polish edition of the stand, which will be released soon. What’s the game? Graphically very dark and filled with plastic under the edges. Gameplay is a very, very difficult dungeon crawler, based on scenarios with lots of descriptions. The mechanics of the game itself is very simple and based on using a very limited number of cards from your hand. If someone is not afraid of failure, I highly recommend it.
Kidnapping
This is definitely the darkest, and in my opinion also one of the best paragraph comics. The story is great, but the graphics are worth paying attention to. Penetrating the abandoned house, in search of the kidnapped daughter, we can feel the atmosphere of the first Resident Evil games . Each corridor or room is sometimes viewed from an unusual angle. In addition, the darkness prevailing in the frames, as well as strange visions and shadows that pass from one side to the next, you can feel anxiety and uncertainty. After all, we never know what may be lurking behind the door. The cover itself should encourage horror fans to take an interest in this position.
Letters from Whitechapel
Who has not heard of the famous Jack the Ripper? This serial killer operated in London in 1888 and killed at least five people. The man was never caught. But what the police failed to do, you can do! In Letters from Whitechapel, you will become detectives hunting Cuba! In addition, one person will have the opportunity to lead the criminal himself and help him escape from the law enforcement officers. In order to feel more into the atmosphere, the creators provided us with an unusual graphic design. In the box you will find a map of the London neighborhood from the 19th century where the killer operated, photos of the policemen conducting his investigation, images of the victims and letters written by this criminal. Everything is carefully prepared and refined. Isn’t that dark enough?
Arkham Horror: 3rd Edition
Well, the truth is that overall, the entire series – whether it ‘s Arkham Horror: The Last Hour or Eldritch Horror and similar games – has similar graphics, so I really mean a whole family of Lovecraft-based board games. The monsters we will face in these games look nasty; no wonder they prefer to hide in the dark. HA: The third edition is distinguished by a modular board that has its own unique charm. There is usually only one light source in individual locations, which makes the entire tile sink in darkness, and with each subsequent turn we realize what monstrosities are lurking there.
Dragons
One of the most beautiful and darkest card games on the Polish card game market is Dragons . The creators of our bookstore’s oneiric offer were inspired by the great hit Rat-a-Tat Cat , popular in the United States in the 1990s. The author of fantastic graphics and the undisputed master of the climate is Marcin Minor. His Raven Circle, Water Reflection and Raven’s Nest can be quite a mess during the game! The atmosphere of Dragons also fits perfectly with the theme of Halloween!
Dragons is a unique game without negative interaction and complicated rules, but it is characterized by high replayability and scalability. Graphics remain its most important element; because they are dark, a bit abstract, eye-catching and remain in your memory for a long time. I would forget, they allow us to create (dark) dreams!
