Many people involved in the series have mentioned plans for a second season, but Deadline reported that the series has been officially canceled by Disney+ and Lucasfilm. The news comes two months after the show’s first season ended, and less than a week after Lucasfilm revealed that they are “very careful” with their Star Wars plans .
Well, there was always hope and a plan for more seasons. There are certainly more stories to tell, but there is nothing specific I can comment on right now. From a creative point of view, everyone is full of energy. Everyone loved working on Willow.
Ron Howard told The Hollywood Reporter
It’s a strange and unpredictable time here in Hollywood. You can see that across the industry – there are shows that were on track to move forward that they didn’t, and there are shows that never expected to be in a second season that are – so you never know where you’ll be and you never know when the world will end. Let me tell you, these things last a very long time. We definitely want to keep telling these stories, but we don’t know what the future holds for us.
Jonathan Kasdan told Radio Times
Kasdan has not yet commented on the news of the cancellation of the second season .
