The current epidemiological situation affects not only small, local businesses, but also global corporations. With limited revenues from amusement parks closed or open to reduced visitor numbers, and unsuccessful movie premieres for the same reason, Disney has to cut costs. Unfortunately, this time it means the closure of the Blue Sky studio.
The consequence of this decision is not only the loss of jobs for the creators employed in the studio, but also the end of work on film projects. In this case, it’s about Nimona , a comic book story that Blue Sky was supposed to adapt to an animated film. The production was announced in 2015, and the premiere was to take place on January 14, 2022.
The only consolation may be the fact that the studio’s entire output still belongs to Disney, and a series based on characters known from the Ice Age series is to appear on the Disney + platform .
