(Anti) sisters
If you have younger / older siblings, the stories presented in the reviewed comic book will not surprise you. If, on the other hand, you are the only child , you will be a bit surprised while reading the comic and you will probably smile more than once! In the volume entitled Will it work or not?We watch Marine grow up and become smarter. Wendy, her sister, is focused on developing an acquaintance with her boyfriend – Maks aka Maksentius (who, by the way, is also a sympathy for the younger offspring). Marine is becoming more and more difficult to keep in check, especially when the crazy blonde remembers her childhood fun – “it will or will not.” Then the funny situations are endless! The authors of the reviewed script are Christophe Cazenove (co-creator of almost forty humorous series for children and adults) and cartoonist William Maury, who is also responsible for coloring other – apart from Sisters – boards. It is the sixteenth volume of the series published since 2008. It is worth mentioning that another one, which tells about the second identity of Wendy and Merine, also appears regularly –Supersisters.
Fun at all costs
Sisters is a great hit on the francophone comic book market. However, this should not surprise us. Observing the funny adventures of the characters, we can easily identify with them in many situations. Wendy and Marine are arguing about cleaning, they play pranks on each other, share their thoughts and concerns with readers, experience ups and downs, have support and do not regret time for pranks. Interestingly, the volume also refers to the aforementioned Supersisters series. Cazenove enriches the comic with one more surprise – the last board is a scene from the lives of adult sisters. We can see that, despite the passage of time, the girls are still charming, and the younger of them still plays in … “it will or will not.” The verbal and graphic comedy of the series remains at a high level and you can certainly enjoy it. In terms of publication – the comic book is relatively short (less than 50 pages), divided into shorter stories from the life of the sisters, issued in a paperback with a glossy cover.
Endless fun
The Sisters series consists of many volumes, also while reading them, you can get to know the world of happy sisters. I am delighted to read the latest volume about the adventures of Wendy and Marine – it keeps the level, entertains and makes us look forward to more copies of their adventures! As I mentioned in the previous review, we caught up with the French original, which means that we will wait a bit for the next volume, but … it’s really worth it!
