Draco Malfoy, a hero who needs no introduction to anyone, grew up in one of the oldest families of pure-blood wizards. He himself, like most of his family, was assigned to Slytherin by the tiara. The house was renowned for its hostility towards people of Muggle origins, so it was not surprising that Draco continued the tradition and disdained students born in families lacking any magical abilities. He quickly became a kind of leader of the Slytherins of his year, who together with him provoked other students to quarrels. Those who justify the hero often refer to the way he was raised.
Draco had no influence over what values were passed on to him, and while that fact did not absolve him of all the wrongs he had done, it certainly explained his way of thinking. The fans of the Slytherin often point to the fact that he initially wanted to make friends with the title character. He was one of the first to offer him help in finding himself in the wizarding world, but due to his values and visible sense of superiority, Harry decided to reject his offer, which resulted in the formation of a hostile bond between the heroes.
Most of the time at Hogwarts, Draco did his best to make the life of his rival and his friends difficult. There was hatred between them, which made Draco suspect for a time of being the heir of Slytherin. Over the next school years, the skirmishes took on a more serious character. After Lord Voldemort’s return, Draco, along with the rest of his family, joined the ranks of his faithful followers and became a full-fledged Death Eater, which was a definite breakthrough for his character.
Voldemort entrusted him with the mission of killing Albus Dumbledore out of pure revenge on his family, never believing that he would fail. Draco himself never wanted the Headmaster dead, but he knew that the only alternative was to die not only for himself, but also for the entire family. He was scared and desperate, and most of all, very lonely. While planning the murder, he even befriended the ghost of Moaning Martha, who witnessed his suffering. Eventually, Draco Malfoy was unable to complete his mission, and Severus Snape had to complete the work.
His sympathizers also often point to the fact that when Harry, Ron and Hermione found themselves at the Malfoy mansion, Draco tried to save them. Even though he knew the true identities of the prisoners, he refused to hand them over to Voldemort. He also did not allow his friends to kill them in the wish room during the Battle of Hogwarts.
There is no doubt that the hero has undergone a remarkable transformation. We met him as a dry, exalted Slytherin whose primary goal was to compete with Harry Potter, but as time passed, he showed readers that everything he did was based on the values of the family he was raised in and wanted to protect. Eventually, Draco Malfoy and his family left the Death Eater side, and Draco became a loving father and husband.
