An amazing land
When you reach the shore, you see a statue of an ancient idol. This is the last remnant of a long forgotten temple. You came on a ship whose crew members are furry Sybeccai beasts serving the captains, or giants. Disembarking from the ship, you find yourself in a city on the coast that is teeming with its own life. Nobody cares about the extraordinary sailors here. Besides, the local inhabitants are also amazing. Tiny faens fly among humans and little cunning run around. The order is guarded by watchful littoral, half-people, half-cats. Extremely intelligent verrik judge how best to approach the unloading. Everything from the side is watched by the dragon-like and reticent mojh. Will you find a place for yourself in such a world, traveler?
History lesson
The Diamond Throne is a continuation of the Arcana Unearthed RPG series . Its author is Monte Cook, a man who is known as one of the leading designers of the iconic Dungeons & Dragons . It took the player to a world where dragons once ruled. They terrorized and enslaved the inhabitants, carrying out terrible experiments on them, resulting in cross-breeds of various races. Then the warrior sea giants called Chi-Julud came to the land and defeated the dragons, saving its inhabitants. Since then, everyone has tried to protect each other, and honor is more important than your own needs. It is worth adding that the already mentioned basic textbook was largely based on the D&D system3.0, and mainly the icosahedral dice were used for the game. Due to copyright reasons, the developer had to make some modifications and operate under the Open Gaming license .
What’s up in the extraordinary world?
The action of the Diamond Throne takes place, of course, in the same world as the events known from Arcana Unearthed , or from the first expansion, which was Arcana Evolved , but the timing of the events depends on the Game Master. Two textbooks will go to the player’s hands. The first is the History of People and the Earth . This volume introduces the inhabitants, cultures, and places in the land of the Diamond Throne, along with their history and special features that influence the storyline. It includes the cosmology of the world, gods and religions. Also includes adventure and campaign materials, tons of unique creatures and monsters, enemies and allies, and threats and dangers! The second is Heroes and the Land. This volume focuses on character creation, listing all the types, races, descriptions, skills, and equipment that are needed for the game. It also includes the complete rules of the Cypher System , complete with ciphers, artifacts, spells, traditions, rituals, and ceremonies. The Diamond Throne is based on a different “engine” than its predecessors. The creators used the aforementioned system, which fans know primarily from such a classic of the genre as Numenera. Its base remains k20. It is extremely easy to learn and focuses primarily on the narrative, thus allowing for great creativity of the BG and MG. It is more intuitive and leaves a lot of room for maneuver, focusing less on rolls and dice results.
Of course, in addition to the new system and manuals, the Diamond Throne also offers interesting adventures. Compared to the base, the world has been expanded. Of course, the GM can come up with the scenario himself, only from the description, but there are also a lot of tips from the developers. So we can go to the floating forest, crystal fields, Thartholan ruins, a magical library hidden in the mountains or even wander to the Void. Each location offers several plots and side quests that the heroes will have the opportunity to complete.
Are you ready for an adventure?
The Diamond Throne is a standalone RPG that doesn’t require any additional manuals. Thanks to its system, however, it can be easily combined with other games based on the Cypher System . The two previous editions can also provide inspiration when creating adventures. Entering this fantastic world, the player will be able to choose one of the unique races, such as over 3.5-meter giants, winged faen-like fairy, dragon-human drachas or beastly sibeccai. On his way, he will meet well-known goblins, but also unique beasts such as Rhodim and Chorrim. In this world full of magic and dangers, he will be able to develop his character to become a real hero. So if you like RPG and fantasy, this title should interest you!
