Citing anonymous sources, Murphy’s Multiverse reports that Charlie Cox has joined the cast of a new Spider-Man movie. The actor, of course, would return to the role of Matt Murdock also known as Daredevil. As with many other reports, both Marvel and Sony have not yet commented on this topic.
Of course, we will have to wait at least a few months for many of the rumors to be verified, but in this case there are indications that this may be true. First, Marvel Studios and Disney have recently regained full rights to the Daredevil character (the last commitments in the contract with Netflix have expired). Secondly, the third part of Spider-Man will probably focus, among others, on on murder charges framed by the main character Mysterio in the Spider-Man: Far From Home ending. In the Marvel comic book universe there are two hero lawyers who can take the case: Jennifer Walters aka She-Hulk and the aforementioned Matt Murdock. We’ve known about plans to shoot a series dedicated to Bruce Banner’s cousin last year, but Daredevil has enjoyed great popularity in recent years and Kevin Feige will definitely want to take advantage of it. Besides, both the Spider Man and the man who knows no fear live in New York. Third, Marvel Studios has recently established several production companies to deal with as yet undisclosed projects. Perhaps one of them will be a movie or series about a blind hero.
So far, we have more questions than answers about the cast of the new film with Tom Holland. From confirmed people, in addition to the lead role, we know that Jamie Foxx will play Electro, and Benedict Cumberbatch will again put on the Doctor Strange cape and in addition become a mentor of Peter Parker. Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori and Jacob Batalon are expected to return. This is where the unconfirmed reports of the participation of actors such as Alfred Molina, Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst begin. All of them would return to their roles from earlier adaptations of Spider-Man’s adventures.
Currently shooting for the third Spider-Man as part of the MCU is in progress. The premiere is scheduled for December 2021.
