Marion
In the first volume of Strefa’s novel, we follow the fate of Marion Dallas, a woman who does not allow herself to be pushed around by, and when necessary, also able to attack. The heroine is engaged in killing, following the orders of the leader of Area A. She does not get satisfaction from it and would most willingly turn and walk away. However, nothing in life is ever that simple. Especially in a world where disease is trying to overwhelm the rest of humanity after the fall of civilization.
Soon Marion learns about her mother’s trash. As if that were not enough, her sister is subjected to experiments. From then on, the driving force behind its existence is revenge. On the way, she is accompanied by a mysterious man, previously saved from execution. Will he prove to be a good ally or maybe his worst enemy? Can anyone else be trusted in this world?
A world without rules
Kinga Chojnacka in her debut novel created a world in which people will do anything to survive. After the destruction of the Earth by numerous catastrophes, ruins remained, and endless deserts formed. Apart from Marion, who can show her skills and strength of character, the other characters were also well created. There are a lot of themes in the novel, including a slowly maturing romance. The events are not exaggerated in any way, and their dynamics remains at a constant level all the time. The ending can surprise you and allows you to look at the events and characters that precede them differently. Nor did I get the impression that I was reading a book by a novice writer.
Summary
The first volume of Strefa is a really good post-apocalyptic novel. A hostile world, a fight for the survival of the rest of humanity and a woman whose goal is revenge. What more could you want? In fact, it’s just another part and more so well-created worlds.
