We know some new details about the cast of Ghostbusters. Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson will be back. We also know more about the role of Paul Rudd!
Actors known from Ghostbusters in 1984 and Ghostbusters II in 1989 confirmed their participation in the sequel to Jason Reitman’s film. Dan Aykroyd will play Ray Stantz again and Ernie Hudson will play Winston Zeddemore.
Jason is the son of Ivan Reitman, the director of the previous two films. Ernie Hudson has a very positive opinion about him:
I’m glad Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, will be the director, producer and writer of this film. He was still a kid when we shot the previous movies, he even starred in the second one, so I know there’s love in it. He is an amazing filmmaker and I think he will take him to a whole new level.
We know for sure that we will see Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett again in the cast. The actress confirmed her participation in one of the interviews in June. Annie Potts also reappears as secretary to the Vanquishers Janine Melnitz. Bill Murray said in interviews that he would be happy to participate in the film, but his participation has not yet been officially announced. Unfortunately, we will not see Harold Ramis again, as he died in 2014.
Paul Rudd, known for his role as Ant-man in the MCU, will play here a teacher who is also a seismologist. He comes to town, curious about strange earthquakes, and begins teaching at summer school. He will meet a family of three, in which his mother will be played by Carrie Coon, her son Finn Wolfhard (known from the Stranger Things series and the movie To ), and her daughter Mckenna Grace (she played Annabelle returns home ).
Could the character played by Rudd replace Dr. Egon Spengler in the Buster Team?
Filming of the film began on July 15 in Calgary, Alberta, and is slated to end on October 10. There was even a working title: Rust City . Sony announced the preliminary date for the world premiere of the film. It will be on July 10, 2020.
