One of Star Wars’ greatest surprises : Skywalker. Revival. was the disclosure that Daisy Ridley’s Rey was a descendant of Emperor Palpatine. Ridley was as surprised by this information as the viewers, for she had the feeling that she was “nobody” for the first two films. Ever since viewers met Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens , there have been theories as to whether she really came from a family of nobles who had abandoned her on Jakku, or if there was a bigger story to be discovered for her. Revealing that he had Palpatine’s blood in him was one of the more unexpected results for the series.

“I told Daisy Ridley how much I loved ‘Rey Nobody’, how Rey was just powerful in herself, and I was sad when they made Palpatine out of her. Daisy said she also liked the fact that Rey appeared out of nowhere and for the first two films, ”Wilson confirmed. “I was literally told she was nobody, so yeah, I totally get it. I understand that.” I apologized again for bringing up [ Star Wars ] and she smiled and told me, “It’s alright!”
Ridley explained earlier this year that it is the feeling of being overwhelmed and confused about her personal journey that is what binds her most to the character. There are currently no plans for Ridley to return to the Star Wars franchise .
