Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt RED will receive another significant improvement, as presented in the latest trailer . It’s not about the Phantom Liberty DLC , which the studio is currently working on (new information will probably come this summer). Despite this, the novelty should be of interest to all owners of PC Cyberpunk and GeForce RTX series graphics cards. If you own both, get ready for an impressive option to be added soon.
Nvidia recently presented the Ray Tracing: Overdrive mode, based on a revolutionary technique in the gaming industry, to be launched in Cyberpunk 2077, and the differences in the graphic design were presented in a new trailer. The update, scheduled for release on April 11, brings ray-tracing to the game, enhancing the already pleasing Night City. The game will use the latest achievement in this field, i.e. path tracing, while being one of the first productions to receive such a possibility.
The catch with all this is that the impressive visuals demonstrated will require an extremely powerful computer. The material from Cyberpunk 2077 visible above was recorded on equipment with the GeForce RTX 4090 card on board. Its retail price starts from around PLN 8,000. Unfortunately, most PC users don’t have hardware that can come close to this level of performance, so these visual effects will not be achievable for them. Nevertheless, this announcement gives a glimpse into the future of video games, when this technology will sooner or later become the standard, both on PC and consoles.
