CD Projekt RED has shed light on when the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel might be coming . Although the new title of the Polish studio had one of the most chaotic and disappointing launches, more and more players are starting to see the potential. Apparently, underneath all the bugs and performance issues that plagued the first versions of the game, there is a solid open-world RPG. Added to this is the undeniable commercial success and constant interest of the industry. The question of a sequel seems obvious, so we will definitely get one. But not in the near future. An interesting perspective is suggested by the conclusions drawn by Tyler Fischer of ComicBook.com .
Of course, CD Projekt RED doesn’t say anything about the release date, but it gave an indirect suggestion. Redzi recently confirmed that they are starting pre-production on the sequel to Cyberpunk after they release the Phantom Liberty DLC next year. The information may sound familiar if you remember that pre-production of Cyberpunk 2077 began after the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3 was released in 2016. The new RPG was released four years later. Following this lead, it can be assumed that Cyberpunk 2 will appear around 2027. If we consider a scenario with delays, a safer bet would be even something between 2026 and 2028.

The key to this theory is the fact that CD Projekt is currently juggling between several different titles, including a remake of the first Witcher , as well as a completely new installment of the saga. The developers’ schedule wasn’t that tight when pre-production of Cyberpunk 2077 began, so it’s possible we’ll have to wait even longer for the sequel.
