Almost two years after its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has seen a huge surge in interest, especially on Steam. According to industry analyst Benji-Sales, he broke the record of active players in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with 103,329 people. The latest game from CD Projekt Red made it to 104,827, surpassing the company’s previous title.
What contributed to the Cyberpunk record ? Definitely its anime adaptation, which played a great marketing role and encouraged to check the original production.
It’s interesting how the game got users interested, despite its disastrous take-off. Production expectations were high, but many bugs and performance issues frustrated players. Cyberpunk 2077 has been withdrawn from sale on PlayStation Store and many fans have requested a refund. Over the next months, CD Projekt Red was criticized from all sides. Less than a year after the game’s release, discounted copies could be found for as little as $ 10 at some retailers.
Since then, CD Projekt Red has put a lot of effort into Cyberpunk , working to fix various bugs and improve its performance. The current version feels much better than the original and the game’s reception has improved significantly! It’s a shame it took so long, but the feedback from players is much more positive.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Google Stadia.
