The Hollywood Reporter magazine got to such information , which determined that representatives of the CW network were not satisfied with the first version of the pilot. Therefore, it will be created from scratch later this year, while work on the rest of the production has been completely stopped. This in turn means that Season 1’s release date will be postponed and The Powerpuff Girls will not be making an appearance in the CW’s fall schedule as previously anticipated.
The series was announced by Diablo Cody in 2020, while the shooting of the first version of the pilot started in April this year. At that time, the first shots from the set leaked to the network, and shortly after, The CW released official photos of the main characters of The Powerpuff Girls . The production will be a continuation of the cartoon in the acting version and will focus on the older heroines in their twenties – Bójka, Bajka and Brawurka, who sacrificed their childhood to fight evil. Now, years later, they will be forced to cooperate again because the world will be at risk again.
The acting version of The Powerpuff Girls is directed by Maggie Kiley, screenwriters are Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, and the executive producers are Greg Berlanti, David Madden, Sarah Schrechter and the aforementioned creators. We will see Chloe Bennet (Fight), Dove Cameron (Fairy Tale) and Yana Perrault (Brawurka) in the main roles. In addition to them, Donald Faison will star in the series as Professor Atomus. Nicolas Podany and Robyn Lively also played in the first version of the pilot.
The cartoon version of The Powerpuff Girls was broadcast on Cartoon Network in 1998-2005. The series consisted of 79 episodes and became one of the favorite fairy tales for children alongside such titles as Dexter’s Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog or Ed, Edd and Eddy.
