The sale of Crystal Dynamics, the creators of the new  Tomb Raider games , by Square Enix was a decision that unsettled some fans of the series. Players were worried about the future of the successful reboot of Lara Croft’s adventures, but the developers recently reassured the fans and assured that the game is being developed.

The Crystal Dynamics crew has announced that in 2023 we will have news in connection with the creation of the next  Tomb Raider game . At the beginning of this year, the studio confirmed that they are working on another major title, led by Lara Croft, who we last played in 2018 with  Shadow of the Tomb Raider . And while we still don’t know anything concrete about the sequel, it looks like we’ll be getting that information soon.

In a recent call with investors, Crystal Dynamics CEO Phil Rogers said the company will begin sharing more information about the new  Tomb Raider at an unspecified date in 2023. While Rogers hasn’t said anything specific about the next installment in the long-running adventure series, he did say the folks at Crystal Dynamics are looking forward to revealing more.

We haven’t revealed details about the plans for the franchise, but the team is excited to show where we’re headed as soon as possible next year

Rogers said during the conversation.

The big change for the upcoming  Tomb Raider is the fact that this time the game will not be published by Square Enix. For those who may have forgotten, Square Enix sold the Crystal Dynamics studio and ownership rights to the Tomb Raider franchise to Embracer Group. It happened in early 2022. While some fans have been worried about the future of the series, Crystal Dynamics seems to be doing well in the development of the title all the time.

Currently, we only know that the new  Tomb Raider is built on the basis of Unreal Engine 5. It can therefore be assumed that the game will be released only on current-gen consoles, i.e. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, as well as on PCs.
