Carl Barks (1901–2000) is widely regarded as the greatest creator of comic books set in the Walt Disney universe, as well as a legend of the entire comic book medium. He is a master of the plot and comic narration. He invented many characters from Kaczgród, including Scrooge McDuck, Diodak, Brothers Be, Goguś, Granit Forsant and John Kwakerfeller, as well as numerous elements of this world – the city of Kaczgród and the Scrooge treasury. Many comic book creators are proud to admit to being inspired by Barks’ work – for example, Jeff Smith, the author of the cult Gnat, considers him his role model, and Will Eisner called him “Andersen of comics”. Carl Barks’ Kaczgród is a long-awaited edition of this author’s Disney comics, from one-page gags to long plots, often referring to history and mythology.
