Kaju i Kokot – Lania lotania
Screenplay: Janusz Christa
Drawings: Janusz Christa
Translated by Juliusz Kubel
“Kaju i Kokot – Lania lotania” is a special edition of the comic book by Janusz Christa (1934–2008) “Kajko i Kokosz – Flying School” translated into the Poznań dialect. The series tells the story of two warriors – the brave and prudent Kajk and the voracious and selfish Kokosz, who defend Mirmiłów against the attacks of evil Robbers led by Hegemon and experience lots of fun adventures. The comic was created in the 1970s and 1980s and was one of the
business cards of the youth magazine “Świat Młodych”. In 2003, the Egmont Polska publishing house resumed the series, and thanks to this re-edition, all parts of the comic were first published in color. The version of the comic book “Flying School” in the Poznań dialect is a gem for collectors and lovers of the adventures of Kajka and Kokosz and the works of Christa. It will also allow younger readers to get to know, and older readers to recall this dialect of the Polish language, which is very characteristic of the inhabitants of Poznań and its vicinity. Bloody Hegemon and his ruthless Robbers built their stronghold near Mirmiłów. One day the commander, who got angry when someone accused him of a lack of humor, also came up with an idea. He decided to attack the neighboring city and start the conquest from Klubo-Gospoda, because he decided that the seizure of this strategic facility would break the spirit of the defenders. The plan may have been quite good, but it backfired thanks to Kajek and Kokosz, who repulsed the attack. The Hegemon decided to get rid of the opponents spoiling him for good and came up with another idea: he decided to persuade the castellan Mirmila to go
to Łysa Góra and made his biggest dream come true – he learned to fly from witches. And with the governor of Mirmilov, his best warriors should set out …
The grand finale of the saga of the fallen Captain America
This year’s biggest Marvel event (an event whose repercussions appear in many comic book series) is certainly “Secret Empire”, which will be released on July 15 this year. A story about the United States that unexpectedly becomes a fascist regime led by a ruthless … Captain America. How it’s possible? This plot, which was developed in Marvel for many months, can be traced in the
titles published in Poland . It all starts a few years ago, when Captain America is stripped of his powers and getting old to
his true age (as we know, he fought in World War II). About how his youth was restored,
forces and powers, tells the album “Avengers: Impas – Attack on Pleasant Hill”. It turns out quite quickly, however, that he was also instilled with false memories, according to which he had been raised by the
fascist organization Hydra since he was a child . In the two volumes of the “Captain America: Steve Rogers” series published by Egmont (collecting all the notebooks of the original series), we follow as a new, different Captain prepares the Hydra to take over the US and how he achieves success. He causes legally elected authorities to hand over responsibility for the country to him, he separates the Earth with a planetary shield behind which most of the strongest superheroes found himself, and immobilizes the rest in New York. What’s next? This is what “The Secret Empire” tells about.
For all the events related to this event, please also read the “Avengers” and “Deadpool” series volumes with the subtitles “Secret Empire”, as well as the third volume of the “Doctor Strange” series and the seventh “Amazing Spider-Man” (entitled “Fall of the Empire “). The storyline of “The Secret Empire” – the main volume and both volumes of “Captain America” - is the work of screenwriter Nick Spencer (“Ant-Man: Second Chance”), for whom it was the
greatest challenge in his career so far. As cartoonists, he was accompanied by, among others Steve McNiven (“Civil War”,
“Death of Wolverine”), Daniel Acuña (“Uncanny Avengers”), Leinil Francis Yu (“Secret Invasion”, “Infinity”) and Andrea Sorrentino (“Old Man Logan”). Albums that make up the main story are best explored in order:
1. “Avengers: Stalemate – Attack on Pleasant Hill”
2. “Captain America: Steve Rogers”, volume 1 (can be completed with the event “Civil War II
“)
3. “Captain America: Steve Rogers”, volume 2 (notebooks # 12-16)
4. “The Secret Empire”
5. “Captain America: Steve Rogers” Volume 2 (continued)
Side stories can be found in any order after reading “Secret Empire”. They are:
– “Amazing Spider-Man: Global Web”, vol. 7: “Fall of the empire”
– “Avengers”, vol. 5: “Secret Empire”
– “Deadpool”, vol. 10: “Secret Empire”
– “Doctor Strange” , vol 3
