The Irish actor may soon try his hand at the comic book villain again.
According to reports from Deadline, Colin Farrell is negotiating to join the cast of The Batman with Robert Pattinson in the title role. The actor would play one of Gotham’s most iconic villains – Oswald Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin. It would be quite an unusual choice considering that Farrell is in no way like the eccentric comic book gangster.
For the main stakeholder, this would not be the first role in a comic book adaptation. Farrell features Bullseye in his poorly received adaptation of Daredevil’s adventures. Interestingly, the main character in that production was played by Ben Affleck, who until recently was Batman in the DCEU.
For a time, Jonah Hill was associated with the role of the Penguin. These reports were never confirmed, but the actor was in fact negotiating with Warner Bros. to appear in The Batman . So far, in addition to the main character, Catwoman and Commissioner Jim Gordon have been cast. These characters will be played by Zoe Kravitz and Jeffrey Wright.
