The delightfully amusing Bazyl and Licho, characters known to readers from two series by Marta Kisiel, have been published a collection of stories with their adventures. The anthology of eight hilarious texts was published by Mięta, a new publishing house on the Polish market.
You can say a lot about Marta Kisiel, but each time you should even start by saying that the style in which she writes and the number of jokes that she enters into the content of her works make it impossible to read her books in public (unless you are not disturbed by surprised looks strangers when you burst out laughing). In the case of the latest collection of stories about the sneezing Lich and the devastating devil, nothing changes in this regard. Eight texts delight, amuse and simply disarm us while reading. In a word – this is the perfect title for a bad mood for both adult and younger readers.
Feel the mint for literature
Polish writer and Polish teacher by education, Marta Kisiel, has already released several series on our market, among which you can find children’s novels and fantasy, as well as criminal comedies. The latest publication appeared as one of the first titles in the new Mięta publishing house, founded by Agnieszka Trzeszkowska-Bereza (experienced editor and proofreader) and Katarzyna Zając (writer known under the pseudonym Katarzyna Berenika Miszczuk). Both ladies decided – as part of their brand – to create several imprints, including Mints, a department dealing with the publication of literature for children and illustrated books.
About a strange goat with cymbals
Both Licho and Bazyl are known to faithful readers of Marta Kisiel from her other series. However, if you have not had an opportunity to encounter one yet, do not worry – the latest collection of short stories can be read on your own. Each of the texts contained in the book is a short, light and funny story in which the main role is played either by a little Licho or a devil (these are not texts about their joint adventures). Although the stories are simple, each of them has important themes interwoven with the content, the right values and good behavior patterns (no unnecessary moralizing and excessive seriousness, so no one will get bored). It is worth mentioning that the main characters get to know some interesting creatures from Slavic mythology during the lived events,
How to publish books – course 101
Bazyl i Licho is a very good publication from all sides. Both the quality of the issue (hardcover, nice composition) and the graphic side (illustrator is Marcin Minor) delight and perfectly complement the funny and at the same time slightly informative content by Marta Kisiel. It is worth having such a book on the shelf! I keep my fingers crossed for the next titles from Mięka.
